Sander Overlooking the ever-changing never-boring always-gorgeous startlingly blue waters of Lake Tekapo, this hostel has stolen my heart. I have spent days just sitting behind the huge windows of its lounge, clutching a cup of tea and marveling at the view. It's the perfect place to relax and come back to yourself after a mad rush of travelling from place to place. The rooms and kitchen are very decent (the rooms have heaters, which are welcome during the coldest winter nights), and the other facilities which used to be merely adequate back in 2004/2005 (such as the showers) have been improved to being quite decent... Back in 2008 I wrote: "The dining room saw the addition of a TV back in 2005, which definitely removed some of the charm of the place (it used to be completely TV-free) - but still, the thing is usually turned off, and at least it's not placed in the lounge, so I shan't complain too much." Now, in 2013, the TV has moved to the lounge, and is frequently destroying the atmosphere in that lounge. We hates it! :( Still, when the TV is turned off (or you've hidden the remote control) ;) the place does keep capturing my heart, and otherwise the people interested in conversation will be hiding out in the dining area. Also, did I mention the view yet? :)
