Located in the village of Cartajima, just 16km from Ronda in Andalucia, in the little known Alta Genal valley, the hostel benefits from local walks through resplendent valleys to neighbouring villages, with guided walks by a local expert also available. The area is a mountain bikers dream and popular with birdwatchers, artists and photographers alike.
The magnificent Sierra de Las Nieves National Park is just 10 min by car.
A delightfully laid back atmosphere awaits in this traditionally built 300 year old hostel. Open all year accommodation consists of a dormitory located in a rustic chestnut beamed room, with two double rooms and a private twin bunk room also available.

Botz was great - he's more than happy to take you for walks in the mountainside and is an excellent cook (he's an ex-chef; dinner/breakfast are well worth it).

El Refugio Hostel is one of the unique kind of hostels which you don't find so ofen. it's located in wery nice location surounded with beautifull nature and high mountain peaks. it's a perfect place to relax and have a nice walks in nature.
the owner is wery simpatic english dude who speaks also spanish and ducth. beside guided tours he'l be happy to give you any kind of advice where to go or what to do in all the hiden places around Ronda. on top of all, he's also an exelent and expirienced cook with wide wariaty of gurmanic recepies for his guest's. prices of all the services in the hostel are wery reasnoble and the place itself is absolutly special. every room in the house is a diferent story.
if u like to chat and minglle with diferent people from allover the world the Refugio is defenetly the place to be, allthou he also offers a nice and quiet space for people who just want's to relax and enjoy the peacefull life in pure natural enviorment of spanish mountain region in andalucia. i mostly recomand -El Refugio Hostel to all advanturistic and freespirit travelers.
