We're located in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side, only two blocks from Central Park, two main subway lines, Columbia University, lots of bars, restaurants and neighbourhood shops, a 24-hour grocery store and only a 20 minute train ride to Times Square, Penn Station, Port Authority, Grand Central Station and many other landmarks that make New York City one of the leading tourist attraction in the world!

You can spend your evenings in our sunken patio (Manhattan's largest privately owned 'Green space') or on our second-floor balcony-rarities in space-conscious Manhattan-or join one of our nightly happy hours tours, pub crawls or clubbing nights. If you feel like staying in, our large, cosy in-house theatre offers a perfect opportunity to rest up and reinvigorate for the coming days. Our billiards room or interactive Wii are great ways to meet fellow hostellers while spending time relaxing. The lounge and game rooms are open 24/7.

We have a huge common kitchen and newly renovated bathrooms and showers, with free linen and towels. Each room has individual heat/air conditioning. You can use private lockers - just bring your own lock. There's also on-site coin-operated laundry facilities, snacks and drinks available 24/7, free Wi-Fi and an Internet room with public computers.

We have free activities on every single night, like our welcome reception every Monday and Thursday night at 7.30pm. There's also pub crawls every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 9pm, and you can join our nightclubbing events on Friday and Saturday nights. Four nights a week we have in-house comedy and variety shows in the theatre room, plus there's free volunteer-led tours and evening outings seven days a week. If that's not enough, you can take Jerry's Grand Tour, a 12+ hour tour of NYV, on Saturdays from 10am and Tuesdays at 11am. Just visit the lobby to sign up for events and tours.

We plan daily tours and events to help you make the most of your stay. But if you'd prefer to go it alone our fantastic, friendly and helpful staff (on duty 24/7) will gladly provide you with a map and advise you before you leave to help make the best of your adventure. There's no lock-out or curfew!

Please note that all guests who are not Hostelling International members will be charged an additional Temporary Membership Fee of $3 per person per night, due upon on arrival.

We've got a great atmosphere - we're the largest and best hostel in all of the Americas! We've got it all!

Please note that guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or chaperone. Guests under the age of 13 are not permitted to stay in the shared dormitories.

The maximum stay for any guest is 14 days for each calendar year. We don't accommodate residents from within a 75-mile radius of the property.
