Our top-rated hostel has plenty of guest space in our lounge, large kitchen and 45-seat theatre with two screens.
But what really sets us apart from the rest of San Francisco's hostels is that we've always got something going on. Whether it's wine and cheese night, a billiard tournament or karaoke, you can get your night in San Francisco started with us. There's free hostel activities every night of the week!
Our extras include 'privacy pods' - we're the only hostel in the city with privacy screening on dorm beds that also includes a reading light, shelf and outlet!
There's only four beds per dorm, with real mattresses (no foam stuff) and comfy duvets. There's also free in-room lockers with power points inside for secure electronics-charging. Our newly renovated private rooms include duvets, cable TV, fridge, microwave and Mp3 player.
For our free breakfast you can have all-you-can-make pancakes, oatmeal, coffee and tea daily, and for summer we've added toast and pastries.
Other amenities include free day-storage of luggage after check-out, free washing powder for use in our laundry and free use of hairdryers.
Ask us about our tours to Yosemite, Muir Woods, Sonoma Wine Country, our daily city tours and our $45 door-to-door shuttle to USA Hostels Hollywood.
At check-in, international/out-of-state guests must present a valid passport or out-of-state American driver's license. California residents must present a valid college identification or valid passport along with a valid state ID (ie: driver's license). Guests may also be asked to present proof of onward travel.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Please note that guests under 16 are permitted only in private rooms unless an entire dorm is rented. Parents with young children must contact the hostel prior to booking.

Impressed that they offered free wireless connection in the rooms but was a little slow.
Overall a great stay.

Great place located in downtown San Francisco.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
My only complaint would be that when we checked out, our flight leaving SF was only in the evening, so we left our luggage in the luggage storage facility that they provided while we went out on our final shopping spree.
The weather was awful, so my husband left his somewhat expensive finely crafted cowboy hat in the storage room on top of his suitcase.
When it came time to pick up our luggage, our suitcases had been moved (and only staff have access to the area, apart from when you're getting your items out), and my husband's hat had been thrown up onto the top shelf, completely out of eyesight. Not only that, but another person's sleeping bag had been thrown and left on top of it, crushing it and bending it completely out of shape.
There was plenty of other spaces to safely store the hat, so they really had no excuse.
It ended our stay quite sourly, but I guess if you take away the fact that they don't have any interest in your personal belongings, it was a fabulous place to stay at.
And you can't go wrong with the free all-you-can-make-and-eat-pancakes for brekky everyday! :o)
