The Guilin Riverside Hostel is a villa hostel alongside the beautiful and peaceful Peach Blossom River. The hostel, decorated in Chinese style, is not only close to the bus/train station and also offers you convenient access to the best of Guilin scenic spots(Elephant Trunk Hill, Solitary Beauty Peak, Seven Star Park), snack street. The Bank of China and 24 hour banking is nearby.
Our hostel will provide you a peaceful and quiet environment even some guests think it is too quiet to sleep. It is very suitable for senior people, family, couples and small tourist group. We offer you kinds of rooms for example Family room, triple room, twin room and riverview couple room with balcony which is highly recommended by lovers.
In the room or the lobby you can sip your coffee and at the same time you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. Imaging it! The wooden chairs on the boulevard, the reflection in the water and the fishermen in the bamboo boats. So fascinating!

Tour information (Li River Cruise or bamboo raft to Yangshuo, Cormorant Fishing show, Longji Rice Terrace, book the train or plane tickets etc)

We'll try our best to provide a comfortable and easier trip for you. Our manager, Peggy and Yoyo speaks excellent English and will help you anything that you may need.
How to find us:
From the airport: take the airport shuttle to the CAAC station which is the last stop, then change a taxi to our hostel. The taxi costs you 10 RMB and about 10 minutes, you also can take a taxi directly to our hostel from the airport, or you can call us for picking up. Airport picking up will cost 90 RMB within 4 persons, and 30 RMB more for each additional passenger.
Note: when you need airport pick-up please contact us in advance, with the following information: flight number, departure location and departure time.
From the train station :Exit the train station turn left and keep walking about 10 minutes in the direction of Nanmen Bridge (Nanmen Qiao in Chinese). When you go across the bridge then turn left and walking along the river, our hostel just at the end of the alley. Our hostel is less then one kilometer away from the train station so we don't suggest taking any transportation.
From the Guilin long distance bus station: Exit the station turn left. After walking across the Nanmen Bridge, then turn left and walking along the river, our hostel just at the end of the alley. You will arrive here in less than five minutes.

There is a newer building and an older one. The first night I stayed in the new one. It was beautiful and clean and really felt like a boutique hotel. The bathroom and room were small but very clean. However, the bed was extremely hard. I prefer harder mattresses but the mattress was maybe an inch or so thick and sitting directly on a wooden platform. It was very uncomfortable.
The next night I had to switch to a room in the older building. The room was much bigger but very old. It was not nearly as clean and while the bathroom was bigger, it was in major need of repairs and cleaning. The bed though, was not quite as hard. There was also a ton of noise outside my room as I was put on the second floor, right at the top of the stairs. Even with earplugs I could hear a lot.
My last morning I was taking a trip and I had arranged breakfast the night before. The woman at the desk had taken down my order and the time I wanted to eat, along with a group of other people's who were planning to travel early the next day. When I arrived at the agreed upon time, the guy at the desk had absolutely no idea of anything. He was completely unprepared to make anyone's breakfast (there's a kitchenette behind the front desk) and was telling people that they would not have time to eat. It was extremely frustrating that there was that lack of communication.
Overall, this place has potential and perhaps if I had spent the entire time in the newer building, with a more comfortable bed and the breakfast I had arranged, this would be a more positive review.

We stayed in the old part and found it to be most pleasant.the staff were very welcoming and willing to spend time to help you.Although their command of the English language was not always good ,the fact that they wanted to help you and get it right for you compensated for this.The room was quite large and clean.
The location was perfect to access most of the major sights which were within walking distance.
The only critisism is that the organization of breakfast was poor : they need to make sure that the shopping gets done!
I would strongly recommend this hostel which was as good as the hotel that we had atayed in the day before.

The hostel was nice, very good bedrooms for the price we paid. The bathroom was not very comfortable, as most of chinese hostels. It was not very good cleaned sometimes, and we killed some insects in the bedroom, such as a giant spider !!!
The service was OK, but not very into helping you with buses and stuff, they always tried to sell their trips to you, no matter what you wanted.
Overall, it was a good choice.

This hostel is more than just a hostel. It is located within easy walking distance from the main train and bus stations and right next to the river that runs through the city.
The facilities in the room can be described as basic but they are enough for what a weary traveller needs. A comfortable bed in a reasonably sized room with ensuite toilet and shower facilities. Each room has TV and air conditioning for no extra charge.
What really made the stay such a pleasant experience was the staff. Always willing to help answer any question or query you have and often going above and beyond their normal duties.
A special thanks has to go to Stephanie and ShanShan who helped us sort out our onward travel arrangements for no personal reward. No small thing when they must have spent nearly an hour going through the options with us.
I thoroughly recommend staying here and have to say it was the best of the 6 different places we stayed at during our trip to China.
