Built in 1896 during the height of the Victorian era, the Urban Hideaway Guesthouse is, uniquely, one of the ONLY DOWNTOWN HOMES in Vancouver to survive the 20th Century and watch the city literally grow up around it.
We offer private and affordable rooms and suites, set in a 19th Century Victorian Guesthouse, right in the center of Downtown Vancouver. A friendly cross between a property Home, a B&B and a Traveler's Inn, where you can mingle with travelers from all over the world in a quite, laid-back setting.
Your friendly hosts Janine and Ken offer a relaxed, west coast alternative to the typical plastic hotel experience.
For the convenience of all guests there is an entertainment room, roof-top sun deck, flower gardens, smokers refuge, comprehensive complimentary city map, guest library, laundry facilities and storage for your luggage.

We stock all the basics you need to make your own Canadian Breakfast in our big country kitchen. (Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Veggies, Pancakes, cereals, juice, coffee, tea, etc..)

A wonderful small place, where the friendly owners make you feel right at home. Breakfast ingredients are extensive (eggs, mushrooms, bacon, etc), the DVD library is great, and overall I really can't find a fault with this place. It's certainly not the cheapest place in Vancouver, but well worth the money.

Unique property, fantastic location, lovely hosts, comfortable bed, and all at a very reasonable price. Absolutely delighted I stayed there and will recommend it to others.
I stayed at Urban Hideaway for 3 nights and was very impressed with it. If you are looking for a restful place to be, and not the chaos of a hostel, this is the place. I paid a good amount per night, but only a little more than one would pay for a medium-end hostel.
Considering that the house faces a pretty busy street, Dunsmuir, it is very quiet. although that area can be a little sketchy late at night, well, that's Vancouver for you. because the house is quite small, there are limited rooms, which means late night comings and goings are kept to a minimum. The location is golden - mostly because what I was in Vancouver for took place downtown, but it is half a block from the Skytrain, and three blocks from the RAV line (and Cafe Artigiano on Granville
.
The couple who own the house are very gentle and welcoming, without being in your face - and its obvious by the little touches around the house for their guests, that they love what they do. Stay here, absolutely.

It is best to arrive to the city via public transit. The only negative was finding parking. Do your research ahead of time for 24 hour parking facilities and their costs. The building itself was as lovely as described! It really is in the heart of down town and the hosts are knowledgeable about the city.

Anna and Chris were the perfect host and made our short stay a great experience. I would recommend the Urban Hideaway to enybody. and will definitely stay there again should we return to Vancouver. The get your own breakfast was a great suprise, good food and a good way of meeting people. Thanks guys Dennis and Lynn

Friendly and funky with visitors from all over. We are a Seattle couple in our 60s and found it quite comfortable. Kind of creaky though, and you might find it awkward to carry on intimacies, but a couple of steps above your usual hostel.
