Achmelvich Beach Youth Hostel, Lairg, Schotland

Our small, remote, rustic hostel is in wonderful surroundings, just a short walk to a legendary white sand beach listed in the Good Beach Guide.

This former school building and cottage have been tastefully transformed into a 35-bed hostel, with rooms of various sizes including one family dorm-room and one shower. We recommend you bring food with you so you can cook in our self-catering kitchen with three hobs, a fridge, oven, microwave and more.

There's no internet and limited mobile phone coverage, so you can get away from it all. If you need it, there's a public telephone just two minutes away.

In the summertime there is a beach chip shop open, while fresh local produce is available nearby all year. The closest shop and pub is four miles away, in Lochinver.

There is an abundance of wildlife to watch, unrivalled coastal walks and a pace of life that relaxes and unwinds. Unforgettable sunsets are practically guaranteed.
