Toronto Traveler�s Home is a downtown property right in the heart of Toronto�s Chinatown and Kensington Market. TTC streetcar is at front of our door.( Spadina / Dundas location)
Many customers really like our layout. Most rooms are very good. Some rooms are small.

BE AWARE!!! TORONTO TRAVELLERS HOME IS THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I have booked the room by Travellerspoint but unfortunately when I have arrived on Feb the 4th 2011 there was no room available in Travellers Home. After few minutes of explanations they give me the room but in different location, dirty, full of ants, and without any furniture to unpack my stuff. For this reason I had to leave and I have lost all my pre-payment (67$). I didn’t recommend Toronto Travellers Home for anyone.

it's my worst experience in life... tho i like the location... with the booking fee online of US$13 for a night for that particular area is great but with what happened to me, i rate that experience HORRIBLE! i have myself booked online and i have it for 4 nights... i was really very happy seeing the rate for private room with shared bath. i went there as i have been scheduled. the chinese couple who welcomed me doesn't speak english at all. in my limited knowledge of the language we were able to talk. even the copy of the booking that i made online is useless becoz they cannot understand it anyway. the next morning, i got a knock on the door (barely having a sleep) and when i opened to answer it was the lady who manages the inn. to my surprise instead of US$13 a night, they are charging me Can$40 per night. OMG! i almost freak out. she then called the boss from the phone and have him talked to me and they say i need to pay it because that is their rate. so what happened to the online booking? I THINK THIS WEBSITE MUST HAVE THAT PROPERTY CHECKED OUT... YOU AT THE END WILL BE FACING ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS. to add to that craziness, they are charging gov't taxes yet they are issuing an unregistered receipt. i am actually going to report them to the gov't for checking.. i can't forget being send out of the place on a snowy day, no shower yet and no breakfast.

The place is basically a house run by a chinese family, they've been kind to us. location is amazing, chinatown with lots of nice shops and artists playing music on the road. It's also 5 minutes by bus from Dundas Square. funny thing is they ask you to take off your shoes when you step inside the house ... I think the reason is cleanliness but...wait until u step into your room.... bugs are the easiest thing to find, the cooler was full of muld .... and so on... If you REALLY are in a budget this could be the place for you, otherwise ...avoid it especially if you're a couple looking for a nice place.

NASTY!!! I should have looked at the room before they got my money. Dirty room, hair in the shower, no screen for the window, noisy, the table in my room was covered with a black substance that rubbed off if you put something on the table, no toilet paper. I left after the first night (I got there late night) wouldn't give me anything back for the second night. Check out very clean for the same price and includes parking, nice people. Only downside is it's on the far end of town but only 10 minutes to the subway.

The location was fairly good for someone who isn't familiar with Toronto, it is in China town, but only 20 minutes walk along Dundas Street W to the Eaton Centre.
The place is cheap, so don't expect luxury, but the place was fairly quiet, very warm, considering the temperatures outside, and my room had tv and wifi, plus a decent shower.

The location is good. But since its close to Chinese town, the street is dirty. The shared bath room is so small that i dont think it fits men. The bathroom and the washroom are not very clean and there was not toilet paper. The mirror in the room was broken. They do not provide you breakfast... If you are okay to stay in kind of dirtyness, this place is good to stay coz its cheap.

Stayed for a week late Aug 09.
Got ground floor room。 Room facing road so abit noisy, but U can ask for rooms away from the main rooms (i suppose).
Quite clean， clean shared-toilets （everyday）。
Quite safe（- have not heard any police car siren during
duration of stay and i sleeps only in the wee hours）。 No smell as reported in other review （maybe because of the property's new manager）。Free wireless internet。
Near or in chinatown hence easy to get reasonable priced Asian food and shopping。
Manager of property very friendly and helpful。 Don't expect Oxford English but she understands almost all request for help。
Would definitely recommend friends （the less fussy ones） to stay here。

I stayed there for 5 days and then another 2 and am very pleased with it: the rooms are not big, but not so small as other places which cost more and having private shower and WC in the room is a definite plus (OTOH the WC was not separated from the bed by a proper door, only by a curtain, in the rooms where I stay but I strongly prefer this to the one-per-floor shared bathroom that you usually get at this price).
Single beds are quite big and pretty comfy to me; linens included.
While pretty near downtown, the place is not in the immediate vicinity of a subway station, but St.Patrick or Dundas (yellow) and Spadina (green+yellow) subway stations can easily be reached (within mere minutes) using groundcar (tram) line 505 and 510 respectively; St.Patrick can also be reached with a short walk (10 minute).
Also the (free) Internet connection is available both wireless and wired and is pretty fast!

Excellent place to stay... near from everything!! The employees are so sweet!!! Cheap price... room very clean... I would definidly go back there!
