Pollock Halls offers 2* accommodation in Edinburgh to suit every budget and purpose, whether you\'re coming to the city on holiday, for business or as part of a group visit.
Pollock Halls is seasonal campus accommodation located at the foot of Holyrood Park, and offers safe & affordable bed and breakfast accommodation over the University\'s summer vacation, with over 2000 rooms available.
Each single private room, with shared bathroom facilities, has a telephone and tea/coffee-making facilities. Rooms are services daily, and all linen/towels are provided.
Shared pantry facilities in each building include toaster, microwave, fridge, ironing board and iron and fridge; hairdryers are available at the main reception centre. Shared laundry facilities are also available in some buildings.
Full Scottish breakfast is included in the price, and is served in the John McIntyre Centre in the heart of the private campus grounds. Light meals can also be taken in the bar, and there is an on-site shop and ATM available for use by all guests.
Chargeable cabled internet access is available in all bedrooms and wireless internet access is available in some public areas. Free (limited) parking is available on-site, and guests will benefit from the 24-hour reception.

Pollock Halls were in a great location, ideal for the reason staying - the "Coast & Castles" with Sustrans + Charity Adventure - cycling for 3 days.
The start was literally just down the road along Queen's Drive.
There was a secure bike shed too - most important for the cyclists!
Would definitely recommend PH.

A bit out of town, but on a good bus route. Rooms were clean, shared bathrooms okay. Good choices at breakfast, and overall a good, basic place to stay for a night or two.

Overall experience was very good. In the beginning it was too much hassle to find the place. I confuse between Edinbrough University and Pollok Halls. I went to Edinbrough University Campus.

Very impersonal, we had an accident on the stirs as the lift was broken - nobody there gave a damn when we reported this. Asked for change at reception and an older man was veryrude. younger staff very good. it was basicallly an ok hostel.

For budget accommodation Pollock Halls ticks all the boxes. We stayed in single rooms with shared bathroom, and so it was, as expected quite basic. You do get what you pay for. The breakfast, although a bit of a scrum as it was during the festival, offered a great variety of choice and was good quality. It saved us from needing to buy lunch.
I thought the initial arrival was pretty poor in terms of service. I had booked the room a good three months ahead, and yet my friend and I were not in adjacent rooms, in fact we were on different floors in different parts of the building. On questioning this, the staff member was very dismissive and unsympathetic and didn't offer to do anything about it, it was a case of 'tough luck!'

The student halls at the University of Edinburgh are fantastic value for money as tourist accommodation out of term. The facilities are professionally run, well-equipped, and clean, and the buffet breakfast is excellent. The main cluster of residence halls is over a mile south of the Old Town, so you should be prepared to walk or to pay for taxis, but otherwise this is a superior alternative to most hostels!
