A cozy and upscale boutique-hotel at a two minute stroll from Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo in the heart of the "La Candelaria" district, the historical center of Bogotá, dating back to colonial times.
The four-suite hotel is located on one of the oldest cobblestone alleys and at some points during the walk up to the hotel, a glance of the sky reflects the Eastern Andes encompassing the city of Bogotá. These occasional glimpses are largely dwarfed by the views from the glass top floor of the hotel. The top floor offers a 360 degree picture of the city and the 3500 meter high contours of the Andes to the East. One can enjoy a magnanimous view indeed.
The surroundings of the hotel betray the looks of 'old' Spain and inner cities of Western Europe in general. Bohemia, culture, books and art. Plaza de la Concordia has a covered fruit, meat and produce market, surrounding streets are choked with coffee houses, boutiques and small restaurants. Buzzing with activity all day, the area is bore-proof. Infinite strolls to all directions are called for.
The hotel manager (Mr. Massimo Gaudenzio) is a thoroughly charismatic Italian that adopted the area years ago and chose to settle in the midel of this cultural melting pot. No better source of information on the Candelaria to be found as Massimo, always at the ready to help out.
The hotel's ground floor encompasses a charming, well frequented, by locals and visitors alike, intellectual and artistical hot spot. Serving affordable wines and spirited conversation, life starts at the doorsteps! The recycled glass US embassy entrance door blends the street's folklore and the intimacy of the hotel's inners.
The hotel has a wedding suite with bath, and three more suits of which the top floor duplex one dazzles guests with the view through the glass ceiling and a fireplace for cool nights.
Of course conformities as cable TV, internet, security box, , radio, wake-up service, , a business center, a tourist office and twenty-four hour room service are duly present.

We had a wonderful stay here while in Bogota. Even with the language barriers, the staff were all very friendly and eager to assist. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although the spiral staircase was a bit of a challenge while carrying larger luggage pieces. Numerous places in Bogota burn incence and this was a bit too much for the senses, thus we tended to just throw the windows open and get fresh air. The location was great for being out and about and exploring. Having travelled Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama in past, we found most of Colombia to be more expensive value wise. I'm not sure I would have classified it as an upscale boutique hotel .... hostel would be a better description. But all in all the experience was great and we would definately not hesitate to recommend it or stay there again.

El Chorro de Quevedo is centrally located for those wishing to see the most interesting parts of the city ( Bogota is 7 million ). It's close to museums, shopping, restaurants and, most of all, El Telferico Monsaratte. Service and breakfast is excellent and you have an opportunity to meet other travelers from other parts of the world in a warm, home-like, friendly environment. The owner, Maximo, goes out of his way to point his guest in the right direction for the things they want to see and do. We recommend El Chorro 100%.
