The room was nice - For 50 bucks a night I got a private room with two double beds and a bedsofa, a balcony, TV with premium cable, a fridge, microwave and coffee machine in the room, bathroom with toilet, and a bathtub/shower. There was also high speed WiFi included in the room cost. If anything, the room was unnecessarily big, I actually would have rather payed less and gotten a smaller room had that been an option.

The location is a bit out of the way - the only things close by are some fast food places and the Highland Mall - which isn't very interesting, just a few clothes stores, a small food court, etc. The only nearby business that came in handy was the Spec's liquor store which is right around the corner from the Travelodge, I used it to buy some beer to keep in the fridge.

A bus ride into the downtown/6th street area from the Travelodge takes about 25 minutes, and busses leave every 15-30 minutes, depending on the time of day. Transportation was cheap, 2 dollars for a 24 hour pass or 7 dollars for a weekly pass as of October 2010. The main thing that sucked about having to get the bus was that the last bus to the Highland Mall from downtown left at 11.57pm, which makes things difficult if you want to stay out later than that. Austin should consider having their busses run later, because the lack of late-night public transit causes many people to drink and drive. But that's a discussion for another forum...
