It\'s spectacular mountain scenery, it\'s a beautiful traditional lodge made of mud bricks and thatched roof, it\'s an eco-friendly self sufficiency project, it\'s great food, it\'s an adventure center and it\'s a relaxation center.
The Secret Garden Cotopaxi offers you as little or as much as you want, and all of it less than 2 hours from Quito...Walk up the glacier on the world\'s highest active volcano, Downhill Mountain Biking, Horse riding across the high Andean plains, great home cooked food, Trout fishing, hiking, or just relaxing by the fire with a good book.
All rooms have their own fireplace, and private rooms are 2 level cabañas with private bathroom and sunken bathtub by the fire.
Every bed has a view of Cotopaxi - in total we see 8 volcanoes from our land.
Please note that in Ecuador there is a 12% sales tax which we are required to add to your bill.

RSSAfter reading the previous reviews, I can say that I agree with nearly all of them - the good and the not-so-good. However, let me tell you what I experienced:
My wife and I booked it for two nights & days.
Our "gourmet" meals were a lot of empty calories and somewhat bland. Most meals left me feeling hungry. Granted I was expending a lot of energy hiking around the georgeous countryside. At one point the volunteer manager (yes, unpaid and it showed) told everyone present that the owners refuse to buy brown bread because it costs two cents more per loaf than white bread!
The daily excursions were somewhat pushed upon the guests because it is the only chance that the volunteers would get some commission for their work. They are overpriced. ($15 per person for a hike! $30 per person for transportation to the volcano!)
The volunteer managers spent most of the time complaining about their jobs and the owner. They also liked to gossip about previous guests. Made my wife feel like she better not say anything for fear of being the butt of some joke to later guests. They were also negative help when it came to local information. This was due to the fact that they never take public transportation so they don´t know bus routes or schedules (although they claimed to and gave us bum information) and they couldn´t even direct a guest on the phone to the hostel.
Our $58 per night tent reeked of cat pee! The complimentary coffee was often empty and the staff didn´t seem in any rush to replenish it. The only time the staff really catered to us was when there was a possibility of us spending more money (i.e. "Anyone want a beer while I´m up?")
Sorry to dwell on the negatives, but someone had to speak up!
