Garden Inn is a warm and down-to-earth place for travellers. If you are looking for a quiet yet relaxing place, you have found it, as long as you accept that the Garden Inn is a small guesthouse and not a big hotel.
During your stay, our courtyard provides fantastic open or shaded areas for you to enjoy the sun and fresh mountain air of Lijiang. Our balcony area has amazing views of the mountains, valley & old town.
You are welcome to use our cozy common room with comfy sofas, a billiard/pool table and TV/DVD. You can also enjoy some wine, beer and music in the bar. Of course, you could show your talent and have some fun on our guitar...
Garden Inn is located in the old town of Lijiang. If you prefer not to walk, a taxi can drop you off in front of our hostel. If needed, we can provide a pickup service from the airport for 80 RMB.
All the private rooms have electric blankets. Also we can provide an electric heater for a small charge if required.
During peak season If you are likely to arrive after 6pm, please call or text earlier in the day to confirm your booking. If we do not receive such confirmation we may have to give rooms out to walk-in customers.

I had a great time in May's Hostel, so I decided to come back after 2 nights in Shangri-La.
Garden Inn is a very nice hostel located in a quiet area, a beautiful old house with a nice garden. I had a nice balcony in the 2nd floor. May the owner is a very lovely young woman, speaking English very well, she is always very friendly, helping you, answering questions with a lovely smile. We had a lot of fun. But not only May is great, her staff is very funny, too. I hope to see them again! I had all the time the "staff dinner", very delicious home cooked food for a fair price.So, if you like a relaxing hostel, choose Garden Inn.
We stayed in the family room, which was a bit odd because the bathroom is raised up one step, and then only has a glass wall between the facilities and the lounge area, so lacks a bit of privacy - as parents of 2 toddlers we are not that used to privacy, but feeling like you are showering on stage is a new experience!!
It is close to all the action in Lijiang, good location.
The best thing is the 15RMB staff meal, served early at 6.30pm, but fantastic!! And so delicious. You feel like part of the family joining in, and they all made us extremely welcome.
May is super helpful, and especially good in booking onward accom and travel tickets. We only stayed here 4 days, but would love to go back again!

owner (may) & staff (qiaoqiao, dajie) are very friendly, nice & helpful. very nice home cooked meal (jia chang cai).. delicious!!
