Excellent hostel to stay either on your way into Costa Rica or on your way out. Not only is it in a lovely town convenient to the airport (SJO), Grecia, but it is close to many attractions! The beautiful forest Bosque de Los Ninos is a bus ride a away, as are Los Chorros (waterfalls you can swim at!), and Volcan Poas (which you can hike to from Bosque)

Grecia itself is lovely, with a beautiful central park to sit and relax in. There are many stores around for all sorts of shopping as well as a large mall with a cinema!

Mangifera hostel is run by a very friendly property owner, who is gracious, accommodating, and engaging. The property is clean, bright and pleasant, with full use of kitchen facilities! The internet connection works great (wifi) and is the fastest I experienced while in Costa Rica. I like the upstairs patio overlooking the park where you can sit and relax. The living room upstairs is a nice lounge with a TV. Additionally, they are constructing a gorgeous setup in the backyard which I can't wait to see when I return! The water is hot and towels are provided. My only suggestion would be to get a new shower head to disburse the water more evenly :)

Breakfast is delicious comida tipica and the coffee is good! :)

Buses run from Grecia to the airport. This would be a much more pleasant base than in San Jose, which is quite a zoo and is actually further from the airport.
