Backpackers Inn is located in Australia’s eastern most village, beautiful beachside Byron Bay, a mecca for travellers from all corners of the globe.

For over 20 years Backpackers Inn has been regarded as one of Australia’s premier beach hostels. It has become an institution for hundreds of thousands of travellers from all over the world and Australians alike. Like the Bermuda triangle, you can disappear into your own word here at “The Inn”. Set in sand dunes just metres from the golden beach, the pristine waters of the bay and the iconic surf break known as “The Wreck”, it is the only hostel with Direct Beach Access.

The hostel’s unique horseshoe shape which has everyone meeting at the central courtyard next to the pool, provides an awesome atmosphere where many friendships begin. This coupled with the huge grassy backyard make it the ultimate place to hang. A large clean communal kitchen, TV/Video room with ESPN and Fox Sports, laundry, plus games area and lounge room finish the touches for all a traveller needs.

Our motto at The BPI is to “Chillax” – this is a combination of Chilling Out and Relaxing. Whether it be in the comfortable rooms, by the pool, lying in the hanging chairs or hammocks, with your friends in the palm filled coutyard, on the beach, or at one of the many bars and restaurants close by, come join us and ….CHILLAX.

Rooms are made up of dorms ranging from 4- 9 share, doubles, twins and singles... all with communal bathrooms.

Airports - Ballina/Byron and Cooloongatta airports are the closest with regular shuttles running from them.

Bus Stop - a FREE pick up by our courtesy bus is available by calling ahead. Or walk north (up Jonson St.) towards the beach, turn left at the main round a bout, come over the train tracks, swing right and continue 250 m up the steet on the right hand side.

CAR - from South - drive to the top of Byron Bay towards the beach, turn left at the main roundabout in the centre, come over the train tracks, swing right and continue 250 m up the steet on the right hand side.

CAR - from North - drive in from the highway 6 km - we are located on the road leading into town on the left hand side just before you hit the town centre.
