Lencois is located in the heart of the Chapada; it was one of Brazil's richest cities when diamonds were mined in the area.

By Car: From Salvador take the BR 324 to Feira de Santana, then turn onto the Tio-Bahia BR 116 until the 1400 post, from there turn right to pick up the BR242 straight to Lencois.

From Rio de Janerio, Minas and Sao Paulo: Coming by the Rio Bahia BR 116 at Vitoria de Conquista, turn left at the junction to Anage, keep going, passing through Sussuarana, Tanhacu, Ituacu, Barra de Estiva, Ibicoara, Cascavel, Mucuge and Andarai. At the Andarai junction take the left turn onto the BR 424 towards Brasilia and after 38km turn left straight on to Lencois (12km).
