Doorus House Youth Hostel sits on a peninsula between the bays of Galway and Kinvara at the base of the Burren Mountains. 29km from Galway City and 6km from Kinvara Village

Located 29km from Galway City, 6km from Kinvara Village & just 6 kilometers northwest of Kinvara village.

The perfect place for families, groups, and individuals who enjoy the outdoors and who want to experience Irish country culture, arts, nature and geology in an idyllic setting. The managers received the 2002 Bórd Failte Certificate of Merit for representing the traditional Irish welcome. There is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, large dining area and relaxing common room with a real turf fire on the cooler Irish evenings. Warmer evenings will often find people enjoying their meals at the picnic tables or playing a game of volleyball. Other features of the hostel include Wi-Fi, and a small shop in reception.

The original discussion took place in this house between W.B.Yeats, Sir Edward Martyn and Lady Gregory which lead to the foundation of the famous Abbey Theatre. Nearby is the spectacular lunar landscape of the Burren, Ailwee caves, Lisdoonvarna Hot Springs, Dunguire Castle and the awesome Cliffs of Moher, which tower 215m above the sea and stretch for 9km.

Dublin (Heuston station to Galway) then take bus, car or taxi to Doorus House.

BY BUS: (Buseireann)

Galway- Doorus Cross-Doolin-Cliffs of Moher Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423. Scheduled stop in Kinvara village or request stop at Doorus Cross. With these buses make sure you request to get off at Doorus Cross. It is a 3km walk from Doorus Cross to Doorus Hostel. Galway -Nogra Bus Eireann Route 434. Take bus to last stop at Fahy's Traveler’s Inn in Nogra. It is 1.5km walk from travelers to the hostel. Limmerick-via Cliffs of Moher- Doorus Cross Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423. Cliffs of Moher - Doorus Cross Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423. Alternate buses Limerick-Galway Bus Eireann route 51 runs every hour transfer at Kilcolgan 16km from hostel catch Nogra Bus Eireann route 434 M-F at 5:40 pm Or Bus Eireann routes 15, 50, and 423 to Doorus Cross.

BY CAR:

FROM THE NORTH: (Donegal, Sligo, Mayo) Drive south on the N18 towards Limerick. At the south end of Kilcolgan, turn right on the N67 to Kinvara. Drive through Kinvara village approximately three kilometers to Doorus Cross. Turn right at the Doorus House Youth Hostel sign. It is another three kilometers to the Youth Hostel from the turn off the N67. Follow the signposts.

FROM THE EAST: (Dublin) Take the N6 west towards Galway. At Oranmore take the N18 south. Follow directions above.

FROM THE SOUTH: (Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Ennis) Drive north on the N18 towards Galway. Approaching Kilcolgan, turn left on the N67 to Kinvara. Drive through Kinvara village approximately three kilometers to Doorus Cross. Turn right at the Doorus House Youth Hostel sign. It is another three kilometers to the Youth Hostel from the turn off the N67. Follow the signposts

FROM THE WEST: (Cliffs of Moher) you can choose two routes to Doorus House. One is north along the Coast Road (R478 to R477) or through Lisdoonvarna (R478 to N67). Both roads meet in Ballyvaughan where the N67 continues east to Kinvara. Turn left at Doorus Cross at the Doorus House Youth Hostel 3km sign.

Do not use GPS Systems for locating the Hostel; they do not have the hostel in the correct location
