I stayed at “The Duke” during the first week of March 2011, and it was an enjoyable experience. Staff members speak English, and they’re very helpful. There are several places to eat nearby, including the hotel’s own Italian restaurant. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the ocean and within walking distance of tourist attractions, including Conde Street. Another plus is the busy bodega across the street from the hotel; it’s a great place to sit, sip, and watch the world go by.

For a budget hotel... this far exceeded our expectations. Location is perfect for nice walk to Zona Colonial or El Conde for amazing shopping! Best part is that the whole hotel is wireless! It was perfect. Great and inexpensive food right next door. We were here for the Carnaval and it was only a 4 minute walk to the Malecon for a fantastic view of the festivities. I'll definitely be back! Hector at the front desk is fabulous, fluent in English and very helpful.
