Built off the white sandy beaches of Bintan Island, Ocean Bay Resort is a tropical fishing resort comprising 33 units of both beach front and sea chalets and its own 200-seat seafood restaurant which serves a wide range of seafood from all-time favorites such as our famous Sambal Prawns to new exotic dishes such as its local scallops found only in this island.

Ocean Bay resort is a great place to stay for fishing enthusiasts with its well-stocked pond in the sea having plentiful supplies of garoupas, sea-bass and snappers among others.

Locatiegegevens

Ocean Bay Resort is located exclusively in the Eastern part of Bintan Island. From Singapore you will need firstly to get a ferry from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Tanjong Pinang which takes between one and half and two hours.

From Tanjong Pinang to Ocean Bay Resort it takes about 50 - 60 minutes.

Pros:
What I love bout the place is it's cleanliness. There's no mosquitoes, it's pretty calm and scenic. The service staff are generally polite but don't go the extra mile to make you feel really welcome. It's a pretty laid back place I suppose.

Cons:
What I don't like about it is the price of food there. It's as good as eating in a restaurant in Singapore! Try not to eat any seafood (which defeats the purpose) as the water in which they breed the fishes is the same water you defecate in. The kelong has a few dead fishes floating around. On our day of departure, we also notice that the cleaner had dump our trash in the open water! My kids were so disturbed by it, how sad!

The massage service is expensive compared to the one you get in Tanjung Pinang. Not too impressive. I was also surprise that you have to pay SGD$4 an hour to play a game of pool, it made me wonder if we have to pay for everything we touch! We were travelling with two children so they need to be engaged constantly.

The location is about an hour, so a two way trip will cost you a good SGD$50-60 dollars. They will send someone to pick you up (which is really a pricey general tour guide and a driver) without notifying you so make sure to negotiate the price before getting in the van. We were lucky to have a family friend pick us up and showed us around so we did have fun in Tanjung Pinang.
