The hotel dominates the Southern end of the famous Naini Lake and its rooms command a breathtaking view this beautiful Hill Station.

Built in 1918, Himalaya Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Nainital. Established at a time when Nainital was the favorite resort of the ruling British class and when there were restrictions to the free mixing of the British/European and indigenous societies, the hotel was designed to cater to the needs of the Indian aristocracy which demanded the best services but wanted to retain the Indian touch for themselves and their families.

During summer a delightfully cool breeze almost invariably blows from the lake and this coupled with the thoughtful design and a generous proportion of the rooms ensure that the hotel provides the most comfortable and cool rooms. During winter heating arrangements are in place though unfortunately the old fireplaces are no longer functional due to a general change in guest preferences.

With time the hotel has kept pace with the changing needs of guests to ensure that modern facilities are available. Yet the old traditions ensure that the staff is steeped in hospitality and courtesy. All this is available at surprisingly reasonable rates.

One of the most unique features of the hotel is the imaginatively designed and picturesquely located Himalaya Mini Golf course, which overlooks Naini Lake, in the hotel complex. This 9-hole miniature golf course has been imported from America and provides an unforgettable experience for visitors who invariably appreciate not only the game but also the care with which the course has been laid out with ponds and gardens, flowers and ferns, castle, battlements and steep rock-sides. No prior experience of golf is required to enjoy this amazing facility which can be experienced by the young at heart of all ages (from 9 to 90). While the facility is open to all, hotel guests are given a special discount on the already very reasonable rates.
