Holm Farm Heritage, Nainital, India

Founded in the year 1869 Ranikhet came up as one of the finest and most beautiful and pictureous cantonments of the country. Lord Mayo when became the governor general of India thought of changing summer capital of India from Shimla to Ranikhet and in this process also got survey of railway line to Ranikhet done. The panorama of Himalayan range visible from here is arguably the largest as visible from any other town in the Kumaon hills. Peace and solitude found here is almost incredible. Ranikhet has some how managed to preserve its virginity and pristine charm unlike other hill stations which have been turned into concrete forests. The old buildings, churches, barracks, bungalows and above all lush green forest all lend it an ambience that is unrivalled. Holm Farm Heritage has the honour of hosting personalities like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehra, Smt Indra Gandhi. Achrya Narendra Dev and many more top dignitaries. After Independence this house was bought by very known freedom Fighter of Kaman and a very close associate of the Nehru Family Pt. Madam Mohan Upadhyaya whose family has been staying here since then and trying to preserve this historic property.
