Two years ago,Amly chose a place near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda,and set up a youth hostel.Several months later,this hostel had a guest from Austrilia,who is called Kate,gave it a name:Hanwood.
She said,"I really love this place since its location is really good,just next to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which is one of the two landmarks in Xi'an.I love her design,her atmosphere,her people,her cute birdies,her turtle,and her blog walls…"

I enjoyed my stay here. The showers were clean and the common-room was always tidy. The bare concrete would probably be very very dusty in summer, but for us it wasn't an issue at the time of our stay. Wifi was good and the staff were really really warm. The nicest and most helpful staff we have met in China so far. The location is good for people who like the less authentic Chinese holiday, as it was very far away from the old city. (Meaning i had to catch a bus up to the other end of town everyday which takes a long time.)
The only major downfall was when I was packing my bags to leave, I noticed the room keepers don't wash the sheets, they merely fold them up and put them on the bed for the next person. gross...

the hostel is located just outside the old city, to the south, very close to one of the major point of interest, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Also across the street a very nice and green public garden, built on the site of an old temple. Cafés, bars, restaurant, minimarkets next door.
Overall the Hostel is of excellent value, my room was a single use, overlooking the main road but at night not much traffic. The only problem was the noise due to unusual circumstances as the late World Cup matches kept the fans awake and toasting late at night in the rear yard.
Air conditioning, double bed tatami, clean. Shared sanitaries also very clean and well functioning. Interesting design, living room and kitchen very cool, relaxing and cosy, with Internet and 2 PCs available for free. Staff very nice and helpful. Several bus stops just in front. Definitely a place to go if you need to breathe and take a rest from the extremely lively city of Xian.
