Located in a safe and quiet place near the imlil center (5 minutes walking),the main gateway for trekking in the Atlas mountains, Ahmed\'s Riad offers you the chance to stay in this lively rural surrounding . Riad Tighoula is a spacious new guest house with 6 bedrooms, saloons, bathroom, garden and parking places, ideal for a holiday with your family or friends. Around, tourist places, shops many others.
The Riad Tighoula has 120 square meters and it is furnished in a Moroccan style. It has two spacious Moroccan living rooms where you can benefit of relaxation and enjoy your time, 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with three beds.
\'Warm\' rooms and hospitable, with all the facilities that you need, will make you feel as in your own home. The personal of service is pleased to receive you in a calm and relaxing ambiance.

This review is based on a two night stay during March 2011, when four 20-something friends were after a spell in the mountains as a quieter retreat from Marrakech.
Take the scores within context: the riad is not a hotel, it's a small self-built house in a poor mountainous area of a developing country. For what it is, however, it's fantastic! Ahmed and his family are incredibly welcoming. Ahmed speaks almost fluent English and the rest of the family are happy to accommodate any attempts to speak their native French or communicate through smiles and hand gestures. During our stay we met with guides and family friends from the area; they were all fun, accommodating people who held the family in high regard.
The Riad is half-way in to the village of Imlil, which makes it half-way up the mountain side at about 1700m, and about a 5 minute walk from the grand taxi point at the entrance of the village. A further 5 minutes in the other direction takes you out the other side of the village and along roads or mud-tracks into the mountains. Imlil contains many cafes and street-side stalls and shops. All of the shops are basic open-air or serviced counter varities, though some of the cafes are modern and purpose built. The views of the mountains (unexpectedly snowy to us for the time of year) and the valleys and streams are fantastic.
By any standards, the Riad was incredibly clean; muddy foot-prints would be wiped from the floor behind you as you went, yet the family would insist you kept your boots on at your convenience. The shared squat 'hole-in-the-floor' toilets did not generate any unpleasant smells. The food was prepared and served cleanly and we have left without any complaints.
The Riad was good value for money, the food was fantastic and they allowed us to use their electricity and hot water without question. The main guest rooms have a western/sit-down ensuite toilets, some with showers, and there is both a communal shower and squat toilet on both floors of the building.
We would all recommend Riad Dar Tighoula and Imlil, particularly for those treking or anyone looking for a low-cost, basic stay in the mountains with a warm, family atmosphere.
