The hostel still has the big outdoor movie screen and shows movies nightly under the stars. The hostel also has one of the largest solar powered systems in Alice - large panels that generate electricity for the grid and help reduce the hostel's carbon footprint.

There is a choice of multi-share and double/twin rooms and all are air conditioned, as well as a BBQ, swimming pool internet access and tour desk offering a full range of discount tours to see the West MacDonnell Ranges, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon.

Arriving in Alice:

Bus:

All long distance and tour coaches drop off and pick up close to the Alice Springs YHA hostel. If arriving on a tour, ask them to drop you at the YHA.

Train:

2km to station from the hostel. Regular 'Ghan' services available to and from Adelaide, and on to Darwin. Town shuttle bus to hostel $7.50.

Plane:

15 km to airport. Airport shuttle to hostel door $13

Other:

Shuttle Bus - $7.50 to/from train.

Airconditioning was not at all good in our room. Good central place for central Australia,. Roger extremely helpful. Guests need to be told they need identification before purchasing alcohol. We didnt know and had to leave our would be purchase behind! Would be useful if guests could vacate tables after eating so that other people could use the table. They stayed there playing with their laptops instead. \Enjoyed the stay there though, nice to see other parts of the country.
