The Chill House Backpackers is a beautiful colonial hosue located in one of the most beautiful and famous plazas inside the old town of Cartagena (Plaza Fernandez de Madrid).
It is located within walking distance to all of the historics sites,delicious restaurants, supermarkets ancient churches, forts and museums. Now you can stay safetly inside the magic!
We have dorms and private rooms with ac or fans, as well as private or shared bathrooms depending on your preference. Staff available 24 hours a day. There is a spacious lounge area with sound sistem, flat screen satellite tv,DVD, and movies. We can also close the glass doors leading to the patio and rooms on party nights, that way you could chill in one area or party in another according to your tastes. Guest kitchen with everything you need to cook up your own meals or walk downstairs to enjoy an amazing meal at our restaurant Casa Majagua - Special deals for guests. Bar , hammocks and pool area for the hot days! Rooms with beautiful balconies looking out over the plaza and the historic city center are available. Three minutes walk to the caribean sea! Free internet and wifi.
Information abaut local tours, panama and San blas islands and the lost city treek; as well as kiteboarding , surfing and other ocean sports lessons available. Bike rentals offered and if you want to party , we will help you find the best parties in town.

This review is from a 28+, female perspective. It was loud (think blaring mariachi band at 3am in the bar below one of the nights), and shabby-ish facilities. Traveled in Colombia for 4 weeks, and saw far, far better hostels. E.g. 'Casa de Philipe' in Taganga and 'Casa Familiar' in Santa Marta. The only good things about the Chillhouse for us, were the great location in the old city, friendly staff... and I would always choose a private room over a dorm which we had, so that was good too. But, if you are young... go for it! You'l have fun for sure. Very social & friendly place.

chill house backpackers is a cool little hostel located in a great spot inside the walls of the old city. chris and the staff realy make you feel at home friendly, helpfull all good. will be staying here again on my way back through
