Huenino Hotel, Hué, Vietnam

I just finished my stay at the Huenino Hotel at the city of Hue a few days ago. Great location - close to restaurants and the main drag road running alongside of the river. The hotel itself is sparkling clean and the first hotel that i have stayed at in Vietnam that didn't smell musty or like mould or moth balls. It is a damp climate and the later spring rain doesn't help but I have allergies and am sensitive to that as well as I just don't like smelly rooms. Rooms are tiny but very nice with artistic touches, wonderful bathrooms and cotton nice sheets. So great. The hotel is owned by an artist/architect and is pretty eccentric but happy as a lark. He is often in the small, cosy lobby putting more of his just created art up. He is kooky but friendly and most accommodating. There are many of his artistic touches around the hotel and in all of the rooms as well as original paintings from famous Hue artists - so that is all very cool too. Small menu but very tasty food. His wife is the cook and she cooks very well. Always a nice breakfast and a tasty juice waiting for you when you arrive at the end of a day out walking or touring. Staff are excellent - friendly, have pretty good to good English and are happy to accommodate your needs in every way. For the price, i think that this is the best deal in town and cannot imagine why anyone would sty elsewhere. If I am back this way, I will definitely stay here.

if all of Vietnam gave this level of customer service people would never leave! I've never stayed in a hotel where the staff pampered you so much.

Upon arrival we got in late and the receptionist insisted that we sat down and had a quick feed. We went up to our room passing a few tables with bookshelves and chessboards (loving it!) and got up to a clean room with very nice decor.

The room itself was a little small, as per Vietnam. The bathroom was very clean, and they sanitise the toilet as well. The bathtub in the bathroom looked nice, but was a little awkward to use with the curtains. I ended up just putting the curtains aside and getting the whole floor wet.

Breakfast was decent. Not bad but nothing to write home about. We went out, came back to rest a little and the receptionist insisted that we sit down and have a drink. She brought out perhaps the best smoothie I've had in Vietnam

Service here was great. They organise anything you need, scooters or tours. And the hotel is very reasonably priced. If you're after a particular Vietnamese dish like Banh Loc ask the staff and they'll point you to the best place for these little Vietnamese rice cakes.

Upon departure the bellboy brought our stuff out and waited with us on the streets for our ride to come. I'm not certain if I would ever return to Hue, there isn't much here to do, but if I ever do come back I would certainly come back to this hotel.

This hotel is the most perfect we have visited so far in Vietnam. The small but very beautiful and comfortable rooms, the perfect decor of the hotel and the perfect very, very silent location are not the only reason. Maybe even the main reason are the incredible staff. The try to guess your needs whenever they see you and the guess them maybe even earlier as you are aware of them yourself. When you look exhausted, they bring you a drink, when you arrive first in the hotel after a long journey, you get some lunch, if you fill sick (so as my girlfriend) they provide some helping pills. Needless to say that they will organize your tickets for your next journey. It is a friendly, silent and harmonic place. I have no idea, why not everyone vote 100% for them (well, almost everybody is doing it).

Highly, highly recommended!
