Ashton House dates back to 1908 and was originally built as a hotel to serve Manchester Victoria Railway Station. Now a Grade 2 listed Victorian property. In April 2010 Ashton House was acquired by its present owners and has now been sympathetically restored to its former glory. Everything in this property is brand spanking new from the walls to the soft furnishings.
Ashton House is built over 26,000 sq ft and has 51 En Suite Bedrooms. The ground and basement floor has now been completely refurbished and has just opened as Manchester\'s first Boutique Hostel with over 114 beds. The hostel boasts, Plazma screen tvs, stunning hotel 24 hour reception, 65 internal CCTV cameras, secure lockers, shared dormitary style bedrooms, both mixed for ladies and gents.
Unlike any other Boutique hostel in the UK we have installed Massage Showers with radio, LCD lighting, seat massager with 2 different showers and jet washers. Put simply, these showers are the best and most luxury on the market. They have been installed to leave you secure in the knowledge that you will feel relaxed, fresh and comfortable. Ashton House provides free WIFI throughout the full building including all bedrooms unlike most. The site benefits from Internet terminals also.
We have vending machines for snacks and tea and coffee. Accommodation is sold on a room only basis.
We also have shared rooms and private ensuite rooms available and self contained rooms which sleep 4 / 6/ 8 / 9 people right up to 28 people
This budget hotel and hostel is situated less than 5 minutes walk to the Manchester Evening News Arena and Victoria Station, The finish on the property is to a nice standard and is ideal if you are visiting the city for business or pleasure.

Location is great but the overall experience wasn't so. I only stayed one night and during that time the reception guy came into my room (en-suite) at 1:15am, without knocking and when my girlfriend woke up wondering who it was he just left without saying who he was. We thought it was one of the other guests who tried to get in at first, but wondered how since they wouldn't have a key card to our room? About 10/15mins later someone attempted to get into our room again, my girlfriend woke me up again and I shouted "F@%$ Sake" and the person whom tried to get in went away. I then decided to go to reception and tell them what had been going on. There was a group of older women there who didn't look happy at all. I told the reception guy what had happened and he said it was him and that the room me and my girlfriend was in was "double booked" so he went to check if anyone was inside. I asked why he didn't knock but he just said he was sorry. I then said that someone else tried coming in after and he said that would have been the cleaner. Why would he get the cleaner to go in after he knew we were already in there? I was annoyed by how he didn't care about what he had done and how the hostel could make such a stupid mistake. What annoys me most of all is how after going in our room, he just ran out without saying who he was and just returning to his desk. My girlfriend couldn't sleep well for the rest of the night and neither could I. We complained the next morning to the woman on reception (Spanish I think) but all she could say was sorry and then didn't appear to be too bothered. We left not long after this. I have stayed in many hostels in my time and I am not normally one to complain, but coming into someone's room in the early hours of the morning and not stating who you are once you realize people are in the room and then running out and going back to your desk is stupid. I shall not be staying here again.
