Oh my. Let me first say that the location overlooking the cauldron is exceptionally beautiful. Be prepared to have to carry your luggage up and down steep stairs!

Unfortunately, our experience at Irini's was distasteful. We arrived late at night and found instructions to go into two very nice rooms. The note also stated that breakfast would be served in our rooms between 8 and 10 in the morning.

We waited for the breakfast. At 10:00, I went to inquire and was told that we had to phone in order to get the breakfast (no mention of that on the note). The person at the front desk was unwilling to provide breakfast at 10:10 and stated that "it wasn't her fault" when I asked if a small adjustment to the bill could be made. Then, I was told that we had to move to another part of the resort because the rooms we were in were provided only because the others would have been hard to find late at night. It turns out that the rooms we were moved to were _much_ smaller and without kitchenettes even though their website states that all of their rooms had such. In fact, they moved us to a completely different resort ("Spilotica's"). When we got there--after carrying our luggage up and down stairs for about a kilometre in typical Santorini heat--we were told that the reason for the move was that we were three in number, not the five that they anticipated. So, the story changed. All told, it seems that we were downgraded greatly simply because they double booked. I would not go back.

Spilotica's, on the other hand, had considerably better service. Strangely, however, we were asked there to move to another room because they were short of space. This time, I asked to see the new rooms before we would agree to move. The new rooms were much larger! I asked how this solved their problem of shortage of space. The answer was that he "maybe liked us too much." Oh, well.

The view of the caldera from your private villa is unbeatable. Terrific view, comfortable villa with breakfast served on your private terrace. Honestly, we only had 2 complaints: while they had wi-fi, they did not provide any computers for those traveling without a laptop, and they women running the reception seemed very grumpy. I would still recommend Irini's for the view and value, but know that the walk down from the road has many steps, so I would recommend traveling light!
