The Sleeping Indian Hostel located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Alejuela, Costa Rica

was named after a little chain of mountains next to the Arenal Volcano.. This chain of mountains is called by the locals El Indio Dormido- The Sleeping Indian, because of its surprising resembles to a big fat Indian lying down.

The Sleeping Indian Hostel is not a regular hotel or hostel. There is no official reception and no fancy uniform, and we rent only 4 rooms. We are a small Costa Rican family run hostel. With our intimate atmosphere, fully equipped kitchen, our excellent old fashioned gourmet made coffee, our spacious living room and our great hospitality, no matter what kind of traveler you are, you will feel at home straight away. Making you feel at home is what we do best, because we love people, and we love hosting. Gerald Pereira the owner is fully bilingual and is a knowledgeable nature tour guide and invites you to come to visit as a guest but leave as a friend.

Four guest rooms with your choice of a queen or two twin beds with hot shower private bath and wifi. We also have shared dorm style with shared bathrooms available.

It's easy to get to The Sleeping Indian:

By car-

When coming from west, enter town and drive straight. After you pass the central park and the church, you'll see phone booths and Alamo rent a car. Make a right, and at the following junction make another right. you'll see us on the left hand side on the second floor next to the post office.

When coming from south, simply keep going straight. When you see the office of Wave Expeditions turn right, and you'll see us on the left hand side above the coffee shop next to the post office.

By bus-

Stand with your face towards the bus. Make a right and walk straight, you'll see a Megasuper.

At the first junction make a right and walk straight two blocks. You'll pass the church and the office of Desafio. Make another right when you reach Wave Expeditions offices. You'll see us on the left hand side. Entrance is between the post office and the hostel on the little entrance way.
