The setting was very good. The beaches were filthy and i think more can be done about this. Sea weed was also a big problem. If tourism is one of the main sources of income for Zanzibar then the government needs to look at its beaches and get them to blue flag status.
I think that resort owners should take the initiative in cleaning their section of beaches from dirt and seaweed which the owners of domokucho did only the last 2 days of our 7 day stay.

The breakfast was not wonderful, the same breakfast was served daily comprising of eggs, roti's and a type of bread and also fruit was served. No liquids were given with the breakfasts.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of our stay the owners were not present even though they stayed at domokucho.

Also what was not mentioned was that the electricity went off every night for an hour.

Transport was not a problem was very efficient and the roads were surprisingly good. The food served at the restuarants were very good.

Forget about using your visa cards as most of the time the network is down or they give same lame excuse its not working.

Most of the locals are very friendly and helpful. The food is well priced.

The tours are very good but in my opinion dont go for the City Tour, its boring, rather just walk around the city on your own.

What was disappointing is that no one saw us off when we left domokucho even though they new what time we were leaving.

All in all the experience was memorable. But my next trip to Zanzibar will be at another resort that is more well established.

We had the pleasure to stay in one of the standard Domokuchu beach bungalows for 9 days in February 2012. First I would like to thank Shebi, Zoe and the kind staff for being such a nice host.
The bungalows provide everything you need for a simple, relaxing holiday. The bed is very comfortable and the room and the bathroom are nice and clean (and are in fact cleaned every day). There are only a few ants and there are no mosquitoes at all (at least in February). A breakfast with fruits, eggs and local bread is served at your door daily.
The location is at the very end of Paje beach, which is a really calm corner and you have the lovely white sandy beach for yourself. There is a truly relaxing chill out zone in from of the bungalows, which provides a good protection from the sun.
For dinner, there are some restaurants nearby. However, if you are looking for a nice, local seafood dinner at a reasonable price- the right place is the “Bausinga Restaurant”. It is located opposite of “Paje by Nite” in Paje village. This gives you the chance for a romantic twenty minutes beach walk before dinner. Additionally Mr.Bausinga is the best contact if you are looking for tourist entertainment at a fair value (snorkeling, dolphin swimming, spice tours, spice tours, Jozana forest).
Bring cash. There are no ATMs and you can’t pay with cards. Avoid changing money at the tourist information due to counterfeits.
The kitesurfing crowd is located in Paje village. You can take courses or rent gear there. However, if you bring your own equipment and don't need a beach assistant, then you have your perfect personal shallow water playing ground straight in front of Domokuchu. And if you feel like herding, you can easily kite upwind to the village. There are some areas, where seaweed is growing. I recommend to mind them and to kite on the sandy areas to avoid any meetings with sea urchins. If you follow that recommendation, you don’t need any shoes. The water has a comfortable temperature, so you can leave your wetsuit at home… but don’t forget to bring your bathing trunks!

Domokuchu is a very nice place to stay, nice new beach houses on a very pretty location.
If there would be more shade in the morning at the beach side and less plastic on the beach its will be a taste of paradise.
