Our stay in Aaran house was good. Tracy (owner Aaran house) was soooo nice. she gave us a lot of information about the city and the country and showed the hostel!!!!! We had a double single room and it was ok for two nights. Thanks for everything it was great in Cork!!!!=)

Tracey was friendly and informed our tired ears overwhelmingly^^
The location is okay...well and we forgot that there`s no common food in the kitchen...sorry again, that we almost ate the crackers...OOps..

This review is a long time coming, but I have nothing but good to say about the Aaran House Hostel, it's landlady, and staff.

The weary traveller feels at home the second he or she walks into the front door. Tracy Flynn, the enthusiastic and welcoming landlady, or Bridgette, the witty and warm extra hand, greet guests in the main hall, sign them in, and give them everything they need to enjoy their stay in Cork. Tracy is accommodating and, though she will probably deny it, quite the motherly type. She takes an interest in the adventures of her guests, often checking in with, but never intruding on, them. She is more than willing to point guests in the right direction for anything they can imagine to do. She'll even cut your hair for you, if you beg nicely (this actually didn't happen, but one of the guests while I was there was quite serious about letting her do it). If you treat her, her staff, and her home with respect, she will treat you like family. I was lucky to know her when I most needed a place to stay. She did not mind that I was a long term resident of her hostel, and for that I am eternally grateful.

I highly recommend this hostel for anyone who will be in Cork. It's close to City Center, so all the wonderful shopping and night life is just a short walk away. The train station is caddy-corner from the front door, which makes it easy to hop a train to Cobh or Fota for the day. The bus station is a short walk away, so it's easy to get to the local sites (Blarney Castle, being the most popular). Stay here, and be welcome.
