La Hacienda Hostel, Las Terrenas, Dominicaanse Republiek

La Hacienda Hostel provides budget accommodations with a million dollar view over Rincon Bay and is just a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach. La Hacienda is a working horse farm and food produced on the farm is available to quests for free. Traditional Taino farming methods are used on the farm and you are welcome to muck in as you like to learn these techniques. The horses are also available for riding.

La Hacienda Hostel is a safe, quiet, and comfortable home for short or long term accommodations in Las Galeras, Samana. There is a big shared kitchen and living space with a beautiful view over Rincon Bay. In the "kitchen garden" there is a BBQ pit. In the evening, you can see the sun go down over the coconut fringed mountains of Cabo Cabron National Park and look for constellations in the star stubbed night skies. With 10,000 square meters and beautiful gardens around the house - there is lots of space to spread out. La Hacienda operates with green principles in mind - harvesting of rain water, composting and not spraying are some of the measures taken to protect the environment.

La Hacienda is a big private residence with the hostel accommodations on the ground floor consisting of private rooms with private bathrooms as well as a family room and a dorm room. The flexibility of the space makes it a great place for large groups. Camping and tent rental is also available. Linens, towels, and hand soap are provided.

Las Galeras is at the end of the Samana Peninsular, about 20 km's from Samana Town. When you hit the beach, you are at the end of the road and you have arrived in the small town of Las Galeras. Coming into town you take a right at the Tourist Services building and travel for about 2 miles on paved road and another bit on dirt road and come to a T juntion. Take another right, up the hill and you are on La Loma - another 600 meters and La Hacienda is the big yellow house on the right with the white roof.
