We are the first Japanese style traveler's hostel in Nagasaki, located just 5mins from Nagasaki station.

AKARI is located just 4mins tram ride from JR Nagasaki station.(tram for only 120yen!) And it is only 2mins walk from the tram station. There are many shops and restaurants near the hostel, too.
AKARI is a cozy, friendly, family owned traveler's hostel.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the west-end prefecture of Japan island!

>From JR Nagasaki station, or Highway bus terminal, take a tram from 'Nagasaki eki mae'station just in front.
Tram No 3(destination towards 'Hotarujaya') will take you to 'Kokaido mae'station in 4mins. Get off there and take the only road which does NOT have a tram rail on the road, and walk straight. (If you are arriving at night time, it is toward a building with Blue and Orange blinking sign on top) You will soon see a river running, cross the bridge and turn left immediately. Soon, you will see our hostel's orange sign 'AKARI' on your right, at the riverside. (It is a 4-storied buiding)

The overall impression is very good. The location is just near the spectacle bridge. I have to take two stops street car the JR station. But remember the final car of streetcar should be 11:07. If you missed it, you have to walk for 20 minutes without pedestrian path. The staff here is very friendly. The space of everyone is enough. It is much better than those hostel with 4 beds. The facilities are enough. However the Internet is not so good. The speed is very slow. Anyway, it is worth to stay. I will recommend to my friends.
FANTASTIC hostel. This place was great fun and in a great location. Great staff and facilities with bike hire, internet, kitchen ect. No complaints at all. I have recommmended this place to everyone we have met in Japan.

This place had a really good location. A short walk to everything - the staff were really friendly and could speak english well and the hostel had soooo much information for the backpacker. They did free walking local tours of the area and had a bar/restuarant map that included bars that were 'no charge'. Great place - highly recommend!

My friend and I had a lovely night's stay at the hostel. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and, although small, it was cosya nd included a booklet telling us what we could do in the city. There was a living room with internet access and a tv, as well as a small dining room with self-catering facilities.
Nagasaki is an amazing city packed full of culture and I would recommend a visit to anyone. The akari hostel was affordable, homey and generally a really great place to stay.

If you ever visit Nagasaki, AKARI IS the place to stay in.
Lovely people, lovely place & a great atmosphere.
They also made an excellent map of the surrounding area with dining recommendations and sightseeing.
We were in japan for 2 months, and AKARI was the best place we stayed in (though it was a close competition)
The location is great. The staff is super nice and helpful.
They really take care of small details to make the stay more comfortable.
In general we really like Nagasaki, there is so much to see, and we enjoy
staying at Akari. Great value for money.
