Situated in the historic Edo-area lodging district of Shinjuku, we offer 67 Western and Japanese-style rooms amidst the symbolism, sights and shops that define both traditional and modern Japanese life.
We are not a big hotel, and the rooms are small, but we provide a friendly sevice to our customers.
We are merely a 5 minute taxi ride from centrally-located Shinjuku Station, or 3 minute walk from Shinjuku Sanchome Subway Station Exit C-7.
We are also conveniently located near the beautiful Shinjuku Gyoen garden, also Shinjuku 2 chome area
within 5 minutes on foot.
The Tori-no-ichi Festival every November is a famous traditional event in Hanazono Shrine, which locates within 5 min. on foot from our hotel.

From Narita airport;
90 minutes by Airport Limousine Bus bounds for Shinjuku Station. Then it takes 5 minutes by taxi.
From Haneda airport;
60 minutes by Airport Limousine Bus bonds for Shinjuku Station. Then it takes 5 minutes by taxi.
From Tokyo Station;
20 minutes by Subway Marunouchi-line bounds for Ogikubo. Then get off at Shinjuku-Gyoen-mae station. It takes 5 minutes on foot.
From Shinjuku Station;
It is 14 minutes on foot from Central-East Exit. Also it takes 5 minutes by taxi.
From Shinjuku Sanchohme station:
It is 3 minutes on foot from C7 Exit. After getting out the exit, walk for a minute north, and turn right at Shinjuku Gochome-higashi Intersection. Walk another 2 minutes, and turn left at the first traffic light, where you see the New Life Shinjuku Takano Building. Walk pass this building and another one, you will see us, on the right side of the street.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the single room I started out with was a perfect size. The bathroom was like a plastic box put into the room - it was quite cool with it's monochrome beige colour. Felt a bit like an old SciFi movie.
Please be aware when you book your room that as a standard you will book a smoking room - the non smoking room will have to be specified and is a bit more expensive.
Due to this I had to change room for the last night - meaning that I had to pay for a double room as all the single rooms were occupied.
The double room was small and the bathroom was smaller than the one in my single room - it was a bit of a challenge to find space for my toiletries.
The staff had kindly transferred my luggage to the new room - but unfortunately they had crammed my jacket and shirt ( I had placed it on top of my bag so not to get wrinkled) into a plastic bag and I had no time to ask for an iron - so that was a bit of a shame showing up to the wedding in a wrinkled shirt.
The hotel is clean but it starts to look worn and old. There is free Wifi and it's pretty quiet.
Not the prettiest hotel, but the service is top-notch and unmatched and certainly make up for looks. The staff all spoke very good english, were eager to please in answering any questions I had about the hotel or about Tokyo, and were generally a pleasure to work with.
The hotel rooms are small but cozy in true Japanese style. The hotel itself looks like it was probably built in the early to mid 80s, but it wasn't a problem at all.
I absolutely enjoyed my stay here. The location was very convenient, about a 5-8 min walk from the main Shinjuku station and a 3 min walk from the Shinjuku sanchome station. I was able to travel around Tokyo with ease due to the location, and Shinjuku itself was right in the vicinity!
The next time I travel back to Tokyo, there is no question that I'm going back to Tateshina. The combination of location, the friendly staff and top notch service, and the low costs are unmatched.

Finding the hotel was quite tricky but once there the staff were very helpful. It's proximity to Shinjuku was great, most sites of interest were within walking distance. It's not the most luxurious hotel however it's a cut above hostels if you like your own room & bathroom.
