beloking Friendly if basic hostel We stayed in this hostel at the beginning of Oct. We found the stay perfectly pleasant and loved the large gorgeous garden available for guests to use and the well utensiled kitchen. The room was clean if simple although did suffer from a lack of air-con / fan, barely any electric sockets and a shower that would only produce hot water at drizzle and often not even that meaning we often had to have cold showers. But i guess you get what you pay for and we didnt pay much to stay here so in that sense perhaps this comment is a little harsh. That said the room was made every-day and we really appreciated the fact that upon noticing I had clothes under my one pillow to increase the height, the cleaner bought in another pillow! We also found the owner really friendly and helpful and appreciated the free coffee always on offer. We did however find the location slightly inconvenient, especially as we weren't doing a Spanish course the reason many people choose to stay here. The hostel is located about 2/3 km out of Boquette proper which meant you had to get a taxi into town; it was too far to walk and the roads lacked pavements. This wasn't a big deal when we wanted to get into town as most taxis would stop, you didn't ever have to wait more than a few minutes and it only cost 80 cents per person. But with the time of year it did present a slight challenge coming back from Boquette as after 9pm taxis were almost non-existent. That said Tammy's, the busiest and best bar in the town was able to sort these out for us on the two nights we were there, albeit one night, it did take over an hour for the taxi to actually turn up! The only other thing that we noticed although again no fault of the hostel was that it was situated at a slightly lower altitude than Boquette proper which meant in the evenings whilst Boquette would be dry the weather at the hostel would be wet and raining meaning you always had to have waterproofs / an umbrella with you! I obviously don't know if it's always like this!
