tomasvalas Very good value. The staff was very helpful, the hostel was impeccably clean, and there was a full kitchen. Definitely one of the best hostels I've been to.

paulinelon This hostal is clean, and real close to the main scuare. A few days ago i went to do a hiking track, and the owner even lent me her backpack becouse i forgot mine! They are so friendly, helping ou with everything, and any question you might have. There is a nice vibe going on in this hostal, here come frendly people, and i´m verry happy to say its not one of those party hostals. I would recommend this hostal to everyone! BigCityFan This is a fairly centrally located hotel. You can walk to the main square, places of interest, and good restaurants in a few minutes. Comfortable and relaxed. Staff are very pleasant to deal with. Breakfast staff in particular were very sweet. A good find for a stay in a lovely city.

joriedi2 La Posada del Kuraka is a great deal. Period. The rooms are small and basic, the water was mostly luke warm, but the location is good (it really isn't a long walk at all to the main plaza, just five minutes or so). What we liked most about our stay was Jose, the owner. Jose was very friendly and helpful (though his English is limited, but our Spanish was limited as well and we made it work!), always available, and he let us keep our bags locked up and use the facilities even after we'd checked out and while waiting to take a 9 pm night bus back to Cuzco. The terrace up top has a beautiful view of the entire city and surrounding mountains and volcanoes, and that was a huge plus to staying there. If you want inexpensive and basic, then La Posada is a great place to stay.
jtlande I really loved my stay at Casa de Avila. The hotel is really beautiful, and the folks there (especially Rachel at the front desk) are incredibly friendly. My room was perfect - though you should see what's available; I most enjoyed my room on the bottom floor with a window and a queen sized bed, but there are other rooms that I think aren't as nice. I was worried about the location, but found that it's actually quite convenient. It's a short walk to the Plaza de Armas and the rest of town, and it turns out that it's on a very safe-feeling street. Don't forget to wander up to the top of the roof to watch the sunset (with a bottle of wine in hand)...it's quite a nice view from there. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Arequipa! It can be very popular at times, so if you do want to stay here I suggest making reservations before you get there.
