meberty AWESOME PLACE. We were here during Easter'12 and boy, we were in for a treat! We had so much fun here as there were games and special Easter dinner! We got beer, t-shirts as prizes for the games!! The location is also quite good and the staff is also quite helpful. Overall, definitely recommend this place!
bscanes Lovely clean place, very friendly and helpful staff, very good value for mony. Not near shops and difficult to find. Tell Taxi address and say "near entrance to Chinese Cemetry". Peso40 (50 pence uk) tricycle ride to SM Mall (v.good with all shops you could want plus lots of eating places). Recommended.

rikkefeldbaek We had our own "apartment" which we shared with another girl. The room was in another hotel building so there wasn't any reception to ask for qustions and we had to call the owners if there were any problems. Tea and coffee available all the time and breakfast was alright. The place is also outside the centre of the city and it takes about 30-60 min. to get there by taxi. Overall the stay was alright.

credendovides_y I had an amazing stay in Manila partially due to my accommodations at 1 River Central Hostel! My room w/ it's 4 bunk beds was cozy and clean...w/ functional airconditioning and lockers! The prices are unbelievable! Anyone who wants to backpack must book online to avail of the crazy affordable rates! Another reason to stay in 1 River Central would be to meet Hilda. Hilda is the all around landlady, receptionist, cashier, cleaning lady, laundrywoman and cook! She is the best person to consult regarding navigating Manila and she also shares amazingly educational stories! She's service oriented and she never hesitates to make the guests feel welcome! She definitely deserves a raise! It was here that I learned to use the MRT, LRT and go through shortcuts without fear of ending up in the wrong places. I'm definitely booking my stay here next year and I recommend it not just for backpackers but for people who want to discover what Manila is all about!

dberte We were only here for one night but we were very impressed with this place. It's clean and beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit small, to the point that I didn't think that luggage for 6 people would actually fit in the 6-person dorm we were in. Luckily there were only 3 people in it at the time. Another downside is that the coed shower rooms did not include any changing area, or even a convenient place to hang a towel, so getting out of the shower was a bit tricky. All in all I would definitely stay here again. It is close to the airport and also within walking distance of some great restaurants.
