Near Kremlin Apartments, Moscovo, Rússia

The most difficult thing about this apartment was the fact that they would not give us the location before our arrival. I was arriving by myself and trying to meet people, and it made it extremely difficult to find the place and catch up with my group. The whole arrival was nerve wracking as a result. The apartment itself was not particularly fancy, which I didn't expect, given the price, etc. It was clean but the building felt like a tenement -- very dark and dingy. It was walking distance to the Arbat area of Moscow, but a looong walk to the Kremlin and main tourist areas. And it did not feel particularly safe at night.

BE WARNED! All of the apartments that are listed as "Near Kremlin" at the address of Arbat 6 are not truly close to the Kremlin. The apartment where we stayed was actually about a 45 minute walk to the Kremlin. While it may be closer to the Kremlin than an apartment in St. Petersburg, saying "Near Kremlin" is certainly a stretch.

We booked three of the "Near Kremlin" apartments, all of which showed an Arbat 6 address, implying that they were all in the same location. #1 - None of the apartments were actually at the address of Arbat 6, so I'm not sure where that address came from. #2 - The three apartments weren't even located in the same city block as each other, so coordinating with our group was much harder than we were anticipating. #3 - One of the apartments had no clean towels nor linens, so that group did not even end up staying there (they walked down the street and booked rooms at the Radisson).

When we arrived, they tried to explain why the apartments weren't at Arbat 6, which is truly near the Kremlin. There explanation was that Arbat was a long street, which changes names when it goes over the river and we were, in fact, on the same street as Arbat. A BS explanation, at best. Fortunately though, the neighborhood was nice, so we accepted the fact that we got screwed and settled into the apartment as best we could.

In terms of the interior, the first apartment was nice enough. Clean bathroom, decent towels and linens. Full kitchen with dishes. Slight view. Safe and secure. The second apartment was the one that was dirty. I never saw the third apartment.

All in all, I would probably recommend you look elsewhere, especially if you're looking to be close to the Kremlin and Red Square.
