Here at Hostel Casa del Parque we offer an escape from the city. Although we´re nestled right in heart of the historic district, the mansion is situated like a pilar
amongst some of the oldest trees in the city.
The vision of this Costa Rican family-owned hostel is to share the true tradition of their country´s hospitality. This property has been in the family for five generations and allows the traveler an almost home-stay experience with the freedom of a guesthouse environment.
There is no other private residence this close to the spectacular and statuesque
park. In fact, the neighborhood is the park. Upon entering, you quickly realize you´ve traveled back to the old days of grandeur and style.
A cascading staircase greets you in the foyer and a featured chandellier lights the elegant sitting area with a view of our indoor garden. Take time to look around the house and get a feel for the period in which it was built.
As far as night life is concerned, Barrio California in San Jose has got more restaurants and bars per square meter than anywhere else in the city. We are a stone´s throw from The National Theatre and all of the major National Museums.
The guesthouse finds itself as a favorite amongst artists and musicians. The Central American Symphony members consider Casa del Parque their home when they play the National Theatre. Folk artists, dance troupes and popular bands from neighbouring countries return again and again while touring in San Jose.
For those travelers that might want to veer from typical budget hostel or party hostel environment and feel the real magic of a Costa Rican experience, our multi-lingual staff can guide you in any direction you may want to travel.
We offer free: WI-FI all over the house, luggage storage, fresh Costa Rican coffee and tea. Internet desk, cable TV, kitchennette, stereo and CD player and some of the best advice in town.

Great location, very friendly staff who helped me book my trips around the country. Thank you Iola and Robin, and Federico! If you stay there, make sure you have time to go to the restaurant located just outside the main door (Jardin del Parque) - delicious organic vegetarian food!

It's all about the guys running this hostel and not so much about the facilities. Robin and Iola are 2 travellers that are in charge of Casa del Parque and it shows with the friendliness and advice they offer as part of the service. A really great spot to stay in San Jose - just book early as it gets full quickly

If you have to be in San Jose, this is the place to stay! It is far enough out of the center to feel like you're away from the craziness & close enough to walk everywhere. Loved Federico, Amanda, Silvia and monseny. Super Buena gente! The place was clean, spacious, comfortable, tranquil safe and friendly. Our million and one questions were always answered thoroughly, with experience and smiles! Se lo recomiendo a todos!
