Whilst the hotel was clean and all you would expect from a cheap end establishment, its location was to far from the city centre to walk and there were no decent bars or restuarants nearby. The food in the hotel was good but basic and hot water was rare first thing in the morning.
If you are looking for a no frills hotel then this would be ideal.

Just back from East Side City Hotel, which was my HQ during the Berlin Fashion Week. For a budget hotel, I found it a very good choice and great value for money: if you're more after convenient location, comfy bed, clean bathroom and a hearty breakfast (in a slightly tacky hotel restaurant) than glamour and chandeliers, ESC Hotel is the place for you. The area is quite noisy with cars, trams and trains passing nearby - if you like to sleep by an open window, be sure to take your earplugs with you. The staff is cordial and very helpful, and the 24/7 restaurant access is a big bonus if you like coming back from the town at ungodly hours (plus, the food there is more than decent). WiFi access comes at no fee.
