Uig Youth Hostel on the Isle of Skye is located in a timeless and peaceful setting, close to but set above Uig village. It overlooks Uig Bay which offers great views, with the Outer Hebrides often visible. Due to the hostels location many fantastic sunsets can be seen and it is a friendly place to relax. Uig Youth Hostel building used to house the Maternity Hospital for the Isle of Skye and the famous singer Donnie Munro from the band Runrig, was born here.

The Youth Hostel offers excellent group and budget multi-share accommodation but is also family friendly with private rooms available. Uig Youth Hostel benefits from a spacious self-catering kitchen and open plan lounge with spectacular views over the bay.

The eerie pinnacles of the Quiraing, the famous Old Man of Storr, and the magical fairy Glen are not far from Uig. Locally, you can hire bikes and canoes or try pony trekking (near Portree). Get away from the tourist hoards, our relaxed and friendly hostel is an ideal base for exploring the wild north of the Island.

Uig Youth Hostel is a set in a peaceful but easy to reach location by car and by public transport a bus stop located only 5mins walk away offers local buses and coaches to Portree, Inverness, Fort William and Glasgow. The ferry terminal is just 40 minutes on foot, and provides a service to Harris and North Uist. At the pier, which is a 40mins walk or 5mins drive way you can find Uig Pottery, Isle of Skye Brewery, a petrol station, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

By Bus:

All buses going to Uig will stop at the hostel. Tell the driver “Uig Youth Hostel”

By Train:

Nearest stations are Kyle of Lochalsh or Mallaig. From there take bus connections to the hostel.

By Car:

The hostel is 20 minutes north of Portree on the right as you come into Uig Bay. Please note that the driveway to the hostel is very steep with sharp bends and unsuitable for minibuses or coaches.

On Foot:

Walk 2 km from the ferry terminal, the hostel is visible from the bay. Follow the road heading to Portree.

By Ferry:

Ferries from Lochmaddy and Tarbert on the Outer Hebrides.
