No we are not 2 mins from the Red Light district.....but within easy walk of Paradiso, Melkweg, Van Gogh Museum, Rijks Museum, Heineken Hick Museum, Italian deli, bagel place, supermarket & Royal Bakery.
Just 2 mins away are coffeeshops: 'The Little' & 'The Mellow Yellow' . All in a safe residential area. We provide 'The Cool Guide to Amsterdam' and other good guide books.
Ideal for INDEPENDENT travelers, retro whatever of all ages & open minds.

Martyn was great, and very welcoming, the location was excellant and the accomodation suited our needs perfectly. We would definatley consider staying at the crooked house again.

Our stay at The Crooked House was ideal. It's near public transport and downtown. It's comfortable and clean. We recommended. Martin made us feel like at home.

We stayed at Crooked House vor 2 nights and wished it would be longer.
Although it rained all the time, we had a lot of fun.The apartment is central and you can reach every attraction by feet. Nevertheless is is located in a quiet typical populated area, were the Amsterdam people live und were you normally will see no tourists.
The bed is very comfortable and the little kitchen is great for breakfast or cooking spaghetti for example.
And won´t forget the owner Martyn, who is very friendly and knows some good non-tourist-places to visit.We enjoyed it there and will definitely come back.

Martyn is a friendly, easygoing, and helpful host!! Bright, bachelor apartment - not entirely below ground so it has a big bright window and not a lot of stairs...so important in Amsterdam!!
Flat is clean and cool, great for 2 ppl. Showers are hot and good pressure! Utensils, cookware, small bar fridge and two burners are enough to make simple meals.
No wifi access but Martyn offered to let us use his computer and called us a cab ($10 euro to Central station)
Quiet and safe street close to tram that will take you to Central station. Not far from Leidsplein and shopping on Leidestraat.
Grocery store is walking distance about 10 mins. Mike's Bikes tours also 15 mins walking distance. Close to Heineken brewery and Rijksmuseum. Mellow Yellow coffeeshop is at the end of the street but Happy Feelings has built-in vaporisers at every table
We stayed at a hostel houseboat because it was walking distance from Central Station and Red Light District. Then moved to the Crooked House to experience south side of city (Vondelpark, Albert Cuypt Market). Enjoy!
