Hondo Hondo Udzungwa Forest Tented Camp, Udzungwa Mountains National Park, Tanzânia

Udzungwa Forest Tented Camp is an ecolodge bordering the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, southern Tanzania. The ecolodge is known locally as Hondo Hondo meaning 'hornbill' in Swahili and is powered by a pico hydro generator, with solar water heating systems for the ensuite and campsite showers. Providing a comfortable base from which to explore the remarkable Udzungwas, Hondo Hondo is proud of its customer service, quality facilities and tasty food!

Hondo Hondo Tented Camp has six Forest ensuite tented rooms situated along or overlooking the forest boundary and providing a comfortable and unusual accommodation experience. Each is well equipped, with all furniture made from locally available renewable sources such as coconut wood and bamboo.

All beds boast comfortable spring mattresses and feather pillows, and the soft throws over the beds are made by the local Ifakara Women Weavers group, who are one of the lodge's community support projects.

The open-air bathrooms and secluded verandas offer views up into the nearby forest canopy while you shower, and are equipped with western-style flush toilets and huge solar hot water 'rain' showers.

There are also traditional thatched huts available for the

budget travellers.
