Welcome to Braemar House YHA Wanganui. You are assured of a comfortable warm friendly stay in an historic homestead nestled alongside the River.

Braemar House YHA is a beautifully restored historic homestead (circa 1895) situated on the banks of the Wanganui River. We feature both B&B and separate YHA Hostel accommodation.

The Hostel has great atmosphere, is warm, (central heating in Winter) friendly and very comfortable beds.

The dorms are light and airy and feature both male (4 beds) and female (6 beds) options.

We have two family rooms, one sleeping four people and one sleeping six people. The larger one is en-suited.

The private rooms are situated in their own annexes and feature both double and twin bedded accommodation, those are share bathrooms.

Broadband Internet is available, including Wireless, throughout the hostel complex.

The kitchen facilities are superb, great for cooking up that special something.

Ample Free Parking is in the grounds, which are laid out with huge grass areas and sub-tropical plantings. BBQ facilities are available as are sun loungers.

We are a short 5 minute stroll to nearby Cafes and Restaurants and a ten minute walk to Central city and all Tourist attractions.

Take a trip on the Mail Run which goes up the Whanganui River valley and picks up daily from the hostel.

The paddle steamer Waimarie passes every day in front of the hostel and the River Ferry terminal is a five minute walk away.

We are only 87km (kilometres) from the volcanic plateau (Mt Ruapehu) and ski fields.

This is a very comfortable, laid back spotlessly clean Hostel, where you are assured of a peaceful, good night's sleep.
