Ideal for couples and families with kids looking for good budget accommodation in a relaxed atmosphere.
They are also publishers of their own online travel guide.
The Rooms.
They have shared facilities and private facilities.
For the shared facilities they have 3 rooms that share two bathrooms. In most of the rooms they have washbasins. Take a peak at the picture.They are non smoking .

RSSThomas is very friendly and helpful. He goes over a map with you so you are familiar with the neighborhood. He helped us with our luggage. The room and bathroom are squeaky clean, and the room has coffee/tea making facilities, a hair dryer, A/C, TV, fridge, etc. Everything you need! The room we stayed in was right on the main road, but with the shutters closed at night it was quiet and dark. We loved being so close to the action. The hotel is walking distance to Placa Catalunya, where there are hundreds of restaurants and bars, shopping, department stores, entertainment, etc. To top it all off, Thomas reimbursed us **personally** when a hotel he booked us into due to a mix-up at his own hotel went wrong - not many hoteliers would do that!

The hostal residencia australia was great. The location is fanatastic as it is only 2 or 3 blocks from the Plaza del Catalunya as well as a half block from the University metro station 9 (RED LINE).
Our host, Thomas, was quite accomadating and he has a funny wit that keeps you laughing. He went above and beyond the call of duty as my wife got him to model some shirts that we purchased as gifts for others.
The rooms are decent with a good amount of space and all the comforts you need for your stay. We had a double room with shared bathroom and it worked out quite well. There is storage for you bags, a little tv that will play english television if you so wish, a shared refrigerator for food & drink, as well as wifi. There was no air-conditioning in our room but we had a ceiling fan that more that made up for it.
We would definitely recommend this place.

This hostal was extremely convenenient, a fair sized room (if a bit old and homely)and the owner was extremely helpful.
Would stay there again and would recommend.
