*What is the difference between Ryokan and a hotel?

The difference between Ryokan and a hotel is that, first of all, a hotel is the place which offers you a space. Once you get into a room in a hotel, the room comes into your space which means there is no difference between your home and the room there.

However there is "kyakushitsu-gakari" which means special person in charge at Ryokan and they always care for customers to make customers enjoy Japanese hospitality such as dishes or bath etc. To make you have a dream of Samurai.

*By the train : It takes 5 minutes from JR Kyoto station to Shijo station, and then takes 8 minutes on foot from Shijo station to Watazen. It takes 5 minutes from a private line Hankyu Karasuma station to Watazen.

Come out as Shijo from both underground-passage exits of No. 13.

Walk on the left, the first line is turned left, and it is half two lines.

*By car: Get off Meishin highway road at Kyoto-minami IC, go straight on R1 north till the end and turn right at Touji-Temple. Go straight on Hachijyo St. towards east and turn left at Horikawa St., and goes North, then you will be at Shijyo-Kawaramach.

Turn right at Sijyou St. towards east then you will see the Starbucks Coffee Shop and turn left at the corner. You will find our hotel after you cross two streets.

*From the highway to our hotel is about 8km.: Get off Meishin highway road at Kyoto-higashi IC, go straight on Gojyo st(R9) towards West and turn right at Karasuma-Gojyo st. Go straight towards North and then turn right at Karasuma-Shijyo St.

You will see the Starbuck Coffee Shop and turn left at it corner.

You will find our hotel after across two streets.
