alcam0131 Having searched for accomodation during the Edinburgh festival we stumbled upon Haggis Hostels after finding no hotels with any available rooms. As we are not the usual hostel goer we did get a very nice suprise when we arrived. The Hostel itself is 2 flights up some steps which was a work out on old legs. The staff were very welcoming and had offered to take our bags up for us. The beds we had booked were in a room with 2 bunks which had privacy curtains which we thought were a great idea (unsure if this is common in the hostel world) also the sockets at each bed that accepts any counrties plugs i had never seen anything. why are these not in hotels??? We had tickets for a play later in the day and were at a loose end. the staff were very helpfull and gave us directions to The Royal Mile from there we went on their recomendation to the underground city beneith edinburgh. The hostel itself we found very clean. the owners had explained that it had recently been refurbished in time for the festival. the showers were new so very clean indeed. they have a very well designed kitchen to use. a very professional kitchen decked out in stainless steel. Over all i would recomend Haggis Hostels. as our first hostel experience we were fortunate to stay here . it was like staying with freinds more hotel like than hostel .
