Conveniently located next to LRT station, one stop from KL Sentral, around the corner from Chinatown for street shopping and food. Close to attractions like Central Market(across the street!), Hindu and Chinese temples, Little India, Masjid Jamek etc. Puduraya bus terminal (for intercity bus) is 15 mins walk away. Catch the KL hop-on hop-off in front of the hostel for a city tour.

Matahari Lodge – A very well located hostel, for the sights and transport links, well organized, clean and at a fair price. Good for a first couple of days in the country or for the last night before departure. The only negative memory I have of this hostel is the behavior of a small group of guests who where unable to act responsibility on their return to the hostel. However to the hostel staffs credit this issue was effectively addressed.
I would commend this hostel, for those wanting low cost basic accommodation with helpful staff.

I down rated my stay here as when I went out to the reception area at midnight to let the night porters know that their incessant chatting, while at a low volume, was quite audible down the hall in my room and I could not sleep. The response was that I should get ear plugs!!
When I went out again at 01:15 to let the guy know that it was still a problem, even though he was chatting with his girlfriend over the phone in a low voice, he continued and only stopped about 01:30. The same guy was very helpful with directions and quite kind, but the night talking, chats and the response to get ear plugs was off-putting.
The wifi was also not working, and although they knew it, they did not tell me so I persisted in trying to connect. It was only when another guest alerted me to the know problem that I could save myself the hassle of trying to connect.

I stayed Matahari Lodge two days. All the pros as mentioned. If you intend to book the lodge you may consider some cons.
1) The guest rooms have no aircon installed actually.They were installed in the corridor wall and ventilation depends on only exhaust fans. If you happen to live in hot days you would find you in a suffering sweaty night.
2) To be careful to use internet service. The staff watchs you every time and charge you a lot when you check out.

Hotel location very good, most of the famous attractions can be reached on foot .the central market 5 minutes away from. the room clean beyond imagination, since the room with no windows, so it is quiet, the walls thin, but the residents are very conscious not Noise, breakfast relatively simple and very enthusiastic staff.

I Arrived at Matahari lodge at around 9:30am. It was extremely easy to find following the directions given and cost only 11RM from the international airport.
I was unable to check in until 13:00 which was disappointing, but was made to feel welcome. my bags were stored away for me if I wanted to venture out and was made cups of tea and watched TV on their comfy sofa.
The receptionists spoke excellent English and were most polite and helpful with any questions, directions and queries I had.
The room was basic but comfortable and clean. The shower facilities were al little odd, but fine for the purpose. There was tea and coffee and breakfast and a lovely little outside area for smokers.
The location was pretty good, not far from the central market and china town and just opposite the train station. The hop on hop off bus stopped just outside the train station which travelled all around KL.

It was great there!I traveled with my girl freind and we stayed there, we only really wanted a place to crash whilst we explored the city and round about, granted the rooms are pretty basic we had everything we needed and wanted. We had a good internet service that was cheap and flexible (your given an hour's access which you didnt have to use in one session, you could go and come back) there was ample laundry fercilities, food storage and kitchen area was great and a great lounge area to relax which included a balconey area with ample seating and cover all regularly tended to. As for the showers, taking into account they are shared there were more than enough for each floor ( we never once had to wait for a hot shower) with cold and hot water which was hot and reliable and maintained just as much as they were used with shower slippers provided if wanted. Location was brilliant, its right around the corner to the night market and the central market and the train station Pesi Seni (one stop from KL central where you get the main train to go to the international airport) is just accross the road, alot of the buses that can take you to some great locations are just around the corner as well. And as for the service........Lee, Man & Zac it was literally a home from home, we are speechless at how great those guys were they were just great people whom we considered our friends as did alot of the other guest but besides that to arange trips, taxi's, tickets, adjustments in accomadation, (we moved around alot but revisited KL a few times and each time we stayed there because 1. It was a great place 2. It was cheap and 3. They made our stay so easy) nothing was to much for them. The place was packed when we got there and throughout our stay everyone that was there that we met (which were a alot) said how much they were enjoying there stay there. It truly is a great place, if we every find ourselves back in that neck of the woods we'l be shore to go there and we'd recommend it to anyone heading to that area, hope you find this usefull and happy traveling!
Matahari Lodge was fantastic with super friendly staff who gave great advice - but we thought that the price wasn't comparable with other hostels in the area.
