A large farm was built behind this building in order to provide for the monastery. In 1230, the big monastery of Franciscains was built "Place Kleber" where the Aubette buildings used to be.

In 1369, the city of Strasbourg built a hotel and almshouse to accommodate poor travellers in the rue du Faubourg de Pierre, close to the Franciscain monastery.

Since the vocation of the Franciscain Order was to assist the poor, the city of Strasbourg entrusted the management of this hotel to them.

In 1525, the Reformation led to the closing of all the monasteries of the city, but the people in the Faubourg de Pierre district kept calling this hotel "Zum Fransikaner".

The building was sold to a private individual who turned it into an inn, and the small monastery as well as the oratory were torn down and turned into houses.

The Hotel "Couvent du Franciscain" has got a seminary room for 18 persons with all the audio-visual material necessary for your conferences: television set, videotape, screen and paper-board. (air-conditioned room).

Take the exit N° 51 Strasbourg Center Ville. You will arrive to the Place Haguenau, then take direction Parking Broglie Printemps, you will arrive Rue du Faubourg de Pierre.

If you come from Colmar, Highway A35:

Take the exit N° 2 Place des Halles, and then take direction Parking Broglie Printemps. You will arrive Rue du Faubourg de Pierre.

If you come from Germany:

Take the Highway A4 direction Paris, then take the exit N° 2 Place des Halles, then take direction Parking Broglie Printemps. You will arrive Rue du Faubourg de Pierre.

If you come from the railway station:

Take the Rue du Maire Kuss located in front of the railway station. At the end of that street take the Quai St-Jean on your left, then the Quai Kleber. At the end of the Quai Kleber take on the left you will arrive Rue du Faubourg de Pierre. It takes 10 Minutes ago from the railway station to the hotel.

From the railway station, by bus:

Bus N° 10 - 20. Get off at the bus stop Place de Pierre.

From the railway station, by tramway:

Tramway Line A. Get off at the tram stops Ancienne Synagogue Place des Halles.
