Welcome to Racecourse Backpackers Hostel. We offer affordable budget accommodation close to the Christchurch Airport, malls, parks and the CBD, and transportation service could always be arranged at competitive rates. Racecourse Backpackers Hostel was opened in the early 2000s with the goal of creating a home away from home like haven for our guests! Operated by knowledgeable staff with a foundation in the real estate industry that is positive, professional and solution-driven to provide the very best service. Our staff are licensed agents and property managers (Licensed under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008) in the Real Estate industry.

Formerly Racecourse Horse Stables in the 1960's, was revived in 2003, and subsequent refurbishments. Located near Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market every Sunday 9am to 2pm at Riccarton Park Racecourse, and horse racing, Christchurch Airport, bus routes and many attractions. Racecourse Backpackers Hostel has private and shared rooms (dormitories) available.

Ideal for sports teams, schools and other groups looking for affordable accommodation in Christchurch. Our rooms have TV, wardrobe, built-in heater, desk, and some rooms have wash basins.

Triple Room: 1 double & 1 single bed

3 Single Beds Room: 3 single beds - Rate for 2 people NZ$70

Twin Double Room: 2 double beds

Bed sheets & linen are provided with all rooms. All rooms are also equipped with built-in heaters, mini-fridges, TV, desk.

If key and tag not returned: NZ $50 inclusive of GST, transport, key cut & tag replacement & administration charge. If duvet set missing or not returned: Double NZ $300 (NZ $30/day), Single NZ $200 (NZ $20/day).

Note: Accuracy of your Estimated Time of Arrival given to us is important but however, in the rare occasions when the office is unattended upon your arrival, kindly contact our head office by call or through text message for us to guide you to check-in.

5% card fee applicable for all payments by credit card (Mastercard, Visa).

The Management reserves the Rights to offer an equal or higher room configuration in relation to your booking(s) to cater for contingencies (if any) whenever is necessary.

From AIRPORT:

- Take bus 3 from airport to Riccarton Road, then take bus 83 going towards west of Christchurch. Get off the bus at bus stop along Epsom Road.

From Central City: Take bus 83 from bus exchange on the (see metroinfo.org.nz for updated bus routes information). Check with the bus driver that it is going to Racecourse Road. We also do transport service for NZ$30*.

Directions to Hostel by car from the Christchurch International Airport:

1) Head northeast on Durey Rd

2) At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Memorial Ave

3) At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Russley Rd

4) Turn left at Yaldhurst Rd

5) Turn right at Racecourse Rd - Destination will be on the left

6) Once you see a double storey building with the Racecourse Backpackers Hostel and RoomsToLetNZ.com signs, come to our office. Ring the door bell and we will see you there.

* Note: NZ $30 per trip for 1 to 2 passengers, NZ $5 extra for each additional passenger to a maximum of 4 passengers per vehicle per trip as per room booking (plus parking, airport and/or waiting/other fees if applicable).
